Sustaining a community space with a new shoe store
SoleSpace has been the go-to spot in Oakland since 2012, pushing shoes to the wall over 300 times for artists and activists needing a place to gather and perform.
To sustain their downtown community space and community resource, they added a second store as an economic engine.
Approach and Results
We worked with their team to develop a campaign to re-engage thousands of friends.
The story we found helped bridge the original space and the new store. SoleSpace raised almost $19k (138% of their goal) through the Indiegogo page, launched a new event series for supporters, and hosted events including a community foot race and a grand opening party for the new store.
